On Saturday night we had our firework party.
This is our third year of having one and it has
gained momentum with each passing year.
This year we had about 16 of us all enjoying the bangs
pops whizzes. Mrs Lovely Friend and family joined us
as they have since the begining with the lovely addition
of a little master lovely friend. Who was amazing all night
and didnt get spooked once. All my mad and fun lot
came as did my oldest friend Mad Miss and her other half.
It was a great night with friends and family all together.
I have spoke before about my reticence about fireworks.
But have to admit It has become one of our favourite nights.
Simply because it's a great excuse to have a party.
There was soup on arrival - a choice much like last year
spicy lentil and red pepper or roasted tomato and basil.
Then we had a little break in between the bangers for
some other bangers the ones that go with mash and
mulled wine gravy Or if you'd prefer a 5 bean chilli
with tortilla chips with cheese.
My sister laughed as I was feeding the hordes saying I
was in full Jewish mama mode.
I said with our heritage it was more likely Irish mammy mode!
Chasing people about
saying have more there is loads more!
For afters this year I did a chocolate irish cream cake with
black cherry jam and irish cream butter cream in the middle.
And it was rather huge and I have to admit rather rustic looking.
But was yummy though.
I thought it would be fun to make some chocolate apples
for the kids. But DBB insisted that I make a fair few up
as he fancied one himself. Lucky I did as they made
really good favours to take home
at the end of the night.
So with lots of banging, eating and laughing it was a really
great night. Here is to next year. I wonder how big this
one night in the year will get?
